I started my content creation journey in 2015.
I was a college kid, and I had no pressure whatsoever to create anything.
I wasn’t trying to sell anything or create a business.
I wanted to simply communicate my thoughts and share some experiments I had been doing with myself.
If I got 10 likes, great! If I got 3, that’s alright too.
You see? No pressure to create a result.
I created content because I wanted to share. Simple.
Over the years when I started selling stuff, like my coaching programs, I saw the joy running out of my content parts. It started feeling like a job. Yuck.
I see this as a metaphor for how most coaching businesses work as well.
You get started by actually doing what you really love — coaching. And then you try making it a business and it gets to a point where it loses its charm — ’cause you’re always looking for new clients to coach.
This serves as a reminder to keep centering back to love, i.e why we started doing all this in the first place.
Creating content because you care…
If you’re a coach, you must know a few things a lot of others don’t know. You may have done a few experiments on yourself too. You may have tried meditation, journaling, or even different diets or sleeping schedules.
Create content to share that.
Create content because you care — you care about humanity, about yourself, about creating goodness in this world.
The easiest content types when you’re starting out…
Start with sharing what you’ve learned recently.
Read a book recently? Share your insights.
Somebody offered you a piece of wisdom? Share that with the world.
There’s less vulnerability in this kind of content, and that’s perfect to get started.
Don’t hesitate to start opening up [document]
Over the years your vulnerability will create lots of opportunities for you. It’s okay if you’re not ready to be vulnerable right at the start.
You can start by documenting your journey — sharing your progress and challenges.
That’s like getting started with level 1 vulnerability 🙂
Post about what are you reading and why.
Did you fail to create a tiny habit? Publish your progress and lessons.
